"Awakening
in a moment of peace
I give thanks
to the source of all peace
as I set forth
into the day
the birds sing
with new voices
and I listen
with new ears
and give thanks
nearby
the flower called Angel's Trumpet
blows
in the breeze
and I give thanks
my feet touch the grass
still wet with dew
and I give thanks
both to my mother earth
for sustaining my steps
and to the seas
cycling once again
to bring forth new life
the dewdrops
become jewelled
with the morning's sun-fire
and I give thanks
you can see forever
when the vision is clear
in this moment
each moment
I give thanks"

Today I give thanks. We very nearly almost had a house fire. Of the electrical sort. I'm thankful for the almost part and that I was home from work in time to discover the problem.
What are you thankful for?

Too scary, Laura. Well, I'm thankful for friends and a nice life.
First, I am thankful that you all were spared.
Second, I am thankful that our daughter is here for 2 weeks, visiting. She flew in from London today, and will return there to begin grad school in Sept.
I too am thankful you were home and that all is OK. On my home front, I'm thankful for my DH Art and his strong ethic and sense of honor.
I'm thankful for many things -- mainly, though -- that my biggest problem is having a job I don't want instead of no job at all. Does that even make sense? Oh well! :)
I am thankful you were home to discover it! Jeez, Laura. What happened?
Let's see...what else....
I am thankful for the 20 minutes of rain we got this evening.
I'm also thankful you were spared. What was the problem?
Hmmmm. I guess I am thankful for a new day and air conditioning.
Oh my gosh... This world is so beautiful and life so full... I am thankful for it all. But even before you asked the question, as I read the lovely poem and enjoyed the shadowy image, I thought how much I appreciate the way my blogging friends inspire me.
Thanks to you, Laura, and to many others!
I'm thankful you were home too. Whew. Double whew!
I'm thankful for my blogging pals, and all the things we blog about.
Thank heaven for the "almost" part. Do you care to tell us what happened (so I can avoid whatever it too?)

I am so thankful you were home! I am also thankful for my friends. I am truly blessed that way.
Lucky you were home.
I am thankful for my family
I have everything needed for a happy life and am thankful for it all. I know there will be sad days and trouble from time to time, as will happen to all of us. So glad your day ended well!

I'm thankful for a lot of things, but right now I am *very* thankful that you and your house are okay. What happened?
Dear Laura,
Thank goodess you were home!
Wow! I am thankful you are here.
Wow.

Gosh Laura, that must have been so scary. My worst fear is that there would be a house fire if I wasn't home and all my pets would perish...an unimaginable disaster.
I am most thankful for my good health. After working over 20 years at Mayo Clinic and seeing my parents health fail, I'm so happy to just wake up every morning feeling fine and hope it continues for many more years.
Oh Jeez. My brother lost his house to an electrical fire that started in the attic. They rebuilt but it never felt the same and they finally sold it and moved out of state. You are extremely lucky. They were home too, but it was already too late.
I'm thankful for everything that comes my way, good or not so, because it's what shapes my life.
Whoa. I'm thankful you're all ok. I'm thankful for my hubby who is currently rubbing my feet:0)
