A test

and it's a toughie, I think, with no color; only shapes and patterns to guide you.

I really have no clue, but the flying one on the left looks like a mallard.

I say all three are mallards. The top two are males.

Not sure- I'm thinking maybe some Golden Eyes in the water, 2 mergansers and Susan might have the mallard right.

Happy New Year's, Laura- and best wishes for a happy and healthy 2008.

They sure aren't flying rabbits!

Happy New Year from the bunch of us!

The one in the middle is actually a flying antelope head. You can't fool me.

Okay then! I guess maybe a hint is in order (although Dave was right - the flying ducks are all mallards).

There's three there in the water - all the same variety, but not mergs or goldeneyes.

(Not much of a hint, after all)

The ones in the water look like canvasbacks.

John: Of course you're right. I'd been looking and looking for them - found them finally down the street! Silly!

Going by tail shape/contrast, speculae, the little bit of orange foot visible on the centre bird, and the slight yellow showing on the bill of the far right bird, I guess mallards in the air.
