Luka's turning one next month... it's hard now to remember that he was ever this small and cute!Just when I start believing that he's very smart and well-trained... he's learned to retrieve his own collar and leash from the table when we let him out of his crate to go pee... he does something incredibly pupply-like and stupid. The other morning I stepped out of the shower to find him sprawled on the couch eating a bar of Neutrogena soap, wrapper and all! You know the nice soap, from a hotel, that was sitting in a bag on the top of my desk? Right. He retrieved it.
He eats rocks... why should I be surprised that he'll eat soap, too!

What a lovely picture. And Luka is doing what every one-year-old dog does...well behaved one instant and impulsive the next. The puppy-like and stupid things will almost certainly occur in front of other people who believe you have no control over your dog.
She is a marvelous girl.
Oops! I meant HE is a marvelous BOY! My dogs are girls so I assume all other dogs are female as well.

I've been enjoying Luka's adventures. He will improve! Our black lab Jake is now almost 4 and has made enormous progress. He still has a taste for eyeglasses and remote controls, however. In another year he should be perfect.

I have not known many labs--and I have never had one--but the labs that I have known ate ANYTHING, and Luka seems to continue with the lab trait.

Thanks for the book suggestion. Interesting to me that black dogs have a hard time being adopted. With bunnies it's the same thing - usually the whites that are considered 'too plain' tho people also don't like the red eyes much. I've learned to love them tho. One of these days I'll have a red-eyed white bunny.
Dave: Not much would surprise me. I have to keep the bunnies' litterboxes out of his reach because he thinks of that as a particularly yummy delicacy.

Silly Pup....and just when you thought it might be safe to leave something lying around. At least Neutrogena doesn't have a lot of yucky chemicals and additives!
