Luka's latest

Chewing on a discarded water bottle on the bay at Sandy Hook. What is it with dogs and plastic bottles? Do they like the crunch or just the way we chase after them?

Dogs want to play with the same toys we do.

Both. The crunch is great for dogs and kids. I can't tell you how many times I used to take those empty bottles away from my kids when they were little. They would drive me crazy.

You might try to teach Luka another command, "Drop it." That would eliminate the chase.

He's beautiful and the sand is just the right seasoning for a plastic bottle.
Mine likes empty contact solution bottles...
and shoes
and shirts
and underwear
and athletic mouth guards
and wallets
and toilet paper rolls
and cell phones
and socks
and TV remotes ...

It's not just the plastic that makes me go ewwww--it's also the sand!
We visited friends who had a lab--and had along with us a bag of Werthers candies, completely wrapped, in their store bag and then inside a ziplock bag. After we returned from being out with our friends, their lab had eaten the WHOLE thing. No sign of wrappers, store bag, or ziplock bag, much less the Werthers!

Nellie likes empty nursery plant pots. And runs around with them stuck over her face.

Hooper doesn't play with anything. Toys are beneath a dog of his age and stature.

Well, I guess that's one way to recycle a plastic bottle! It looks like Luka loves going to the beach.
