Sculpture interpretation 101

Big question mark from me... it's called Moby Dick. Does that help? Anyone?

Sand Bags ... what we'll all be filling around here if the rains don't quit soon ...

well, it does make you stop, look and think, does it not?
Then it has done what it is supposed to do.

the sandbags represent the white whale's back arching out of the water.

Um--are you expecting a flood or something?

don't quite get the significance of sandbags, but yes, it looks like a whale.

The artist is trying to sandbag the rest of us into thinking this is art.

It does have a bit of a whale profile. Sandbags are sometimes used as extra weight to hold things down, which is pretty much what the white whale did to Ahab, if I remember correctly.

I'll admit to being one of those people who probably don't put enough effort into works of art.
Either it speaks to me- or it doesn't.

This one doesn't.

I think "Parts of a Dog" is a much more beautiful work of art than "sandbags on a lawn, pretending to be a whale."

It is white ....
It looks like a stack of baseball bases ...
And it does sort of resemble the shape of a whale ...

I see the whale, but wonder at the sandbags?
