There's an old folk belief
that demands a sudden gift upon spotting a sundog
and one that says it brings good luck on a long journey;
I have only words to toss into the chilly air of a November sunset
and this thought of you that stays
long after the turkey vulture, like a plane, disappears from sight.

Cool photo! sundogs are difficult to get a good photo of, I think. Often times they disappear before I can get the camera out of my pack or handbag or whatever.

What a great photograph. Lucy you to have been so blessed.
Oh, that's supposed to be lucky you. Guess I had dogs on the mind.
I've only shot blurry, going 70 mph-photos of sundogs.
LOVE the vulture! A two-for-one!
Great shot. Down on the Oregon coast, at sunset, all beach walkers stop and watch the last few minutes. Once in a great while is a magic "green-flash" as the sun disappears ... possibly the same phenomenon ..
Magical!
Sundogs always remind me of winter. That's a nice picture. Will your vultures stay through the winter too?
Amazing! I have never seen a Sundog like this!. A slender scarf of an ice cloud. I have only seen the circular kind. What a serendipitus sight!
How did I miss this post 5 days ago? Beautiful sundog! I've tried to photograph them a couple of times, but they usually come out very pale. This one is wonderful.
I wish I took this photo. Nice, very nice.
Still do.
