Lukamoose and favorite Xmas songs

Yes, he's a ham for the camera!

Can you imagine the torture I'd inflict on a child?

He's not knocked down the tree or lifted his leg on it. Yet. Stealing ornaments is another matter altogether.

;-)

I'm playing along with a holiday meme I saw over at
Liza's and elsewhere to list 10 favorite Christmas songs. My favorites are mostly traditional carols...

1. O Holy Night - this is my absolute favorite carol, I think.

2.
Please Come Home for Christmas by the Eagles

3. Carol of the Bells

4. Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy by David Bowie and Bing Crosby

5.
Same Old Lang Syne by Dan Fogelberg - I won't admit to liking anything else by him, but this one makes me cry every single time I hear it.

6.
Earth Abides by Philip Aaberg - a nicely quiet piano piece

7.
Fairytale of NY by The Pogues - not one you'd ever hear on the radio, but an old favorite I was reminded of by reading other responses to this meme. Be warned... The Pogues are something of an acquired taste!

8. Silent Night - this one is all about the setting... I love hearing it on Christmas Eve, at midnight, holding a small candle in front of me at church with hot wax dripping onto my fingers.

9. Wexford Carol

10.
Peace by Norah Jones

Why not share a few of your favorites?

O Holy Night is a fave...and Same Old Lang Syne...that curls my toes every time.

"I said the years had been a friend to her
and her eyes were still as blue.
And in those eyes I wasn't sure if I
Saw doubt, or gratitude"
Damn, I love that.

Still, Still, Still

and almost ANYTHING sung with an English Boys' choir and a descant.
Hard to beat "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing" done this way.

Oh, I meant to say that I love Lukamoose!

Mmmmm, love Peace -- it's a great one. O Holy Night sung by pretty much any high soprano is fantastic. :) Thanks for playing along!

Great list. I approve of everything on it. I would have to add The Christmas Song (some call it "chestnuts roasting on an open fire) by Mel Torme.

Luka is such a ham. He is a handsome boy and I am sure, aside from stealing the ornaments, brings much joy too you.

I would have to say my favorite carols are Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy; Grown Up Christmas Wish, The 12 Pains of Christmas and anything by Tran-Siberian Orchestra.

Luka is a great Christmoose! I have so many favorites, it's hard to pin down just a few. I am listening to only Christmas music from the day after T'giving until it's all concluded.

I really like "Good King Wen. ..can't spell it without looking it up.

This isn't fair, since I don't do Christmas carols, but I've tagged you for another meme: Six random things

Enjoy!

What a tolerant little guy! He almost looks as if he is enjoying your antics. Sweet, sweet face.

Luka rocks!

I must say that I get ridiculously silly with my kids when I hear Elvis's "Blue Christmas."

And I love the Pretenders "2000 Miles".

And U2's "Baby Please Come Home."

And Joni Mitchell's "River."

And just about anything else these days. I'm in the car driving my kids a lot in the afternoons, when it's dark already (at 4:30!). So we singa lot of carols out loud to the radio. They are still at a good age to do that. With all the car lights, street lights, and house decorations, it feels very fun.

I am a Dan Fogelberg fan and invite you to listen further into Dan's music than his pop songs like "Same Auld Lang Syne"--I think you would be pleasantly surprised!! Listen to the other songs from The Innocent Age -his other songs are much more representative of his work.My fav "The Reach"... Maybe then you would hear the brilliant talent this man possessed and you wouldnt have to be "ashamed" to admit you like his music!!! I am proud to be a Danfan!!! Lin
