Old dogs and watermelon wine

Nothing is ever really lost, or can be lost,
No birth, identity, form - no object of the world,
Not life, nor force, nor any visible thing;
Appearance must not foil, nor shifted sphere confuse thy brain.
Ample are time and space - ample the fields of Nature.

--Walt Whitman

I'm not sure how many of you read Dave of BirdTLC's other blog, Around Anchorage, but please stop in with him.

Whitman was influenced by eastern philosophy. I can see that influence in the "nothing is ever really lost" statement. And I agree with the sentiment.
