Can you hear the evil cackling from behind my computer screen?
;-)
I imagine there's enough here for guessing anyway.
As to hints, well... the pic was taken roadside, behind a restaurant featuring pasties.
And I did eventually learn the proper pronunciation of that delicacy, but not before embarrassing myself with the waitress.

Oh, oh, oh... it's the Fuzzy Yellow-bottomed Mooner! How did you catch one of those?? WOW! I am so jealous! ;c)
I did that same mispronunciation in Minnesota. I can't even remember how it was pronounced now. I think it's like "past" as opposed to "paste", right? I'm not even going to guess on the bird.
Hmmm... a toughie. Was the photo taken in the morning? Looks like a good bird - I bet you were warbling over that one!
Roger T. Peterson
I'm probably wrong, but the color I can see on your wonderful bad bird photo strikes me as pine warbler-ish.
Carolyn H.
Some kinda warbler? with yellow on his butt?
Butterbutt?
Jayne: ...almost! You're so close!
;-)
Patrick: Right... saying it like *paste* refers to something else entirely (the waitress was kind enough to remind me I wasn't in Las Vegas!)
There's no hope if even you won't make a guess...
Mr. Peterson: Hmmm... thanks for stopping by with a hint.
;-)
(that obviously went right over everyone's head!)
Carolyn: Nice guess, but no.
Delia: Nope. The yellow bit isn't important... it's that bit of gray that you can almost guess at.
;-)
That's a pretty sad picture. And since it's obviously not a dove that leaves only one other choice ...
I'll take RTP's hint:
Mourning Warbler?
I had a guess, but the whole pasties thing distracted me ...
Well, they are way over in West UP though I think ...
You are not allowed to post a new blog until you answer the prior blog's mystery!
How do you correctly pronounce pasties?
I have a very similar photo of a very similar bird. I have no idea.
I think Steve had it right first!
;-)
Mourning Warbler it was...
Someone actually suggested that I altered this pic to make it look so bad.
Bwahaaha!
I think I have to defer to Mr. Peterson on this one.
