Comfort food

There's nothing better on a blistery autumn day than a properly made pot pie.

(or a woolly bear caterpillar)

;-)

Common folklore says the severity of the coming winter can be predicted by the amount of black on a woolly bear. It's believed that if a woolly bear caterpillar's brown stripe is thick, the winter weather will be mild and if narrow, the winter will be severe.

I'm guessing none of that mattered to the mantis.

Folks here in my part of KY are all in a tither because we've been seeing woolly bears that are all black. I'm hoping its just a different species entirely!!!

The last time I took a shot of a mantis, it reached up for my camera. I was using my small coolpix nikon because it has a good close up feature.

What is this guy holding?

I just made chicken pot pie last night! Blustery days like in the Hundred Acre Wood. Brrrr.

That woolly bear will be quite the meal for that mantis.
