Pine Lizard

The swift and secretive fence lizard is said to be very common in the Pines, but this is the first one I've ever managed to see...

Don't feel bad. They're not uncommon on talus slopes and other rocky areas around central PA, too, but in all my years in the woods I've only ever had a couple glimpses.

Very cool! I didn't know about these. They certainly give the Pines a southern feel.

With a little imagination, this little guy looks quite frightening. Great photograph.

Great shot! Handsome little critter. And it seems clear why they're hard to see.
