Taken two months ago (nearly to the day) a few miles southwest of Carrington North Dakota. The *ridge* or what passes for one on the prairie, seen in the far distance where the radio towers are barely visibe, is a couple hundred feet above the surrounding plains.

Looks like a peaceful place -- wish I was there...
Beautiful vista, beautiful sky!
The blurriness gives the photo a feeling that the place is old and deserted. Good atmosphere.
Excellent, the sign and the Sky, and the name..:O)
Wonderful Sky, thanks for entering SW.
The whole composition is so dramatic! Stunning!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Have to admit though that I'm not a big fan of hawks since they like to chase down and capture smaller birds in our subdivision. I've even caught them by my bird feeder in our yard. My wife would rather them go after mice and other rodents instead.
Didn't realize you did Sky Watch. Really nice photo. I love the sign.
Beautiful and effective! A great SWF! Cheers, Klaus
Great photo! I love the sign with the sky and clouds over it. It's like "Hawks Nest Ridge" is welcoming you to the sky and its world! Great photo!
Hi! Like Bobbie, I didn't realize you participated. This is a very beautiful picture. It looks like a very lovely - peaceful area. Lisa
Really dramatic with the blurry sthie wispy clouds. lovely image.
What a great shot to look at and see so many different things in it.
What a beautiful wide open sky. I'm from NJ too, and it does seem strange to see such endless plains, doesn't it? Beautiful Skywatch photo!
That's a wonderful view Laura. Thanks.
Very cool shot for SWF. Great composition and framing.
Cheers
Nice photo, Laura!
Great SWF photo!!
great skywatch entry here, laura! love the silhouettes
Thanks for dropping by my HaikuFriday/SkyWatch 'Cloudy Sunrise' at Sacred Ruminations last weekend and leaving the link back here. Today's photo and title made me laugh aloud ... and the sailing photo reminds me of my younger dayz. This is a lovely blue sky with wonderful contrast of land and clouds! I'm glad I didn't miss it ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
Thanks all! This was a fun first try.
